IGNITE YOUTH MINISTRY
IGNITE YOUTH MINISTRY [IGNITE GOD’S NATURE IN TEENS EVERYWHERE]
1 Timothy 4:12 Let no one despise or think less of you because of your youth, but be an example (pattern) for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, and in purity.
1 John 2:13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you have come to know (recognise, be aware of, and understand) Him Who [has existed] from the beginning. I am writing to you, young men, because you have been victorious over the wicked [one]. I write to you, boys (lads), because you have come to know (recognise and be aware) of the Father.
1 Timothy 5:2 [Treat] older women like mothers [and] younger women like sisters, in all purity.
Our youth fellowship is a corporate activity which includes East Gate Family youth and young people from the community. We have a very special team of leaders who have valuable experience with youth ministry and with counselling skills. Youth are challenged to study the word of God through interesting activities related to the Word. They are also taught to understand their own lives and identity, in terms of their growth, relationships, careers and responsibilities.
Youth activities involve creativity in the area of drama, dance, music and art. Children are also engaged in cookery, house cleaning, needlework, craft and gardening.
THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN TRAIL
We are about to launch our sports club, one with a difference. The Ignite Youth Club will extend its membership to include young people, their parents, ex-sportsmen and women and teachers in the local schools with sporting skills. This ministry is led by Geonasha Subramani who is a sportswoman of renown. She not only excels in many facets of sporting skills but is a true sportswoman who carries herself with dignity, integrity, dedication and exemplary behaviour on and off the field.
Young people learn sporting skills and team fellowship. But above these much needed expertise, youth learn to play fairly, follow rules, socialise, support one another and walk with excellence and dignity. Youth learn to deal with defeat and disappointment while still trying to better their skills and sporting abilities. Parents, teachers and children learn to play and fellowship. Good and healthy eating habits and exercise skills are also be taught.
Different codes of sport are offered namely cricket, soccer, netball, volleyball, table tennis, swimming and indoor activities.
In the quest for upgrading sporting skills, youth learn to pray and to play and work together as family. The word of God is given precedence over all activities and character building and integrity are integral parts of Ignite Sports Club.
